How to configure a dual-WAN router with two fiber optic connections

To set up a dual-WAN fiber optic router, connect each ISP's fiber line via an ONT to separate WAN ports, then configure the router for failover or load balancing through its web interface.

Step 1: Prepare Your Equipment

  • Fiber optic modem/ONT: Each fiber connection requires an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) provided by your ISP .
  • Dual-WAN router: Ensure your router supports dual-WAN functionality and fiber input (SFP or WAN port labeled for fiber), .
