A UPS can be connected to a network cabinet by selecting the appropriate form factor, mounting it securely, and linking it to a PDU to distribute power to all network devices.

UPS Form Factor and Placement

For network cabinets, UPS units come in rackmount (1U–4U) or tower form factors. Rackmount UPSs are designed to fit standard 19-inch racks and are ideal for server rooms, data centers, or network closets, while tower UPSs can be used if space allows or for wall-mounted cabinets . Power Distribution

Connect the UPS to a Power Distribution Unit (PDU) inside the cabinet. PDUs provide multiple outlets (C13, C19, or local plug types) to power switches, routers, and other devices . For cabinets with dual power supplies, use two PDUs (A and B) to ensure redundancy. Calculate the total load to avoid overloading the UPS and ensure sufficient runtime during outages .

• Remote Management: Some UPS models offer SNMP or cloud-based monitoring for remote management and alerts .
• Battery Capacity: Choose a UPS with sufficient VA rating to handle peak loads, including PoE devices that draw higher current at startup .
