How to identify an optical port switch

Physical Inspection

Optical ports are usually small form-factor pluggable (SFP or SFP+) slots on the switch panel. Key Indicators of an Optical Port

• Presence of SFP/SFP+ slots.
• Support for fiber optic transceivers (e.g., 1000BASE-SX, 10GBASE-LR).
• CLI output showing transceiver type, wavelength, and digital diagnostics.
• Link status that reports UP when a fiber module is inserted and connected.
