Instructions for Use of Lightning Protection Intelligent Distribution Cabinet

The Lightning Protection Intelligent Distribution Cabinet should be installed, operated, and maintained according to national standards, with proper grounding, surge protection, and monitoring to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Installation Guidelines

Qualified Personnel: Installation and maintenance must be performed by qualified electricians familiar with national and international standards, including IEC61643-21, EN61643-11:2012, and IEEE802.3 . Location and Mounting:

  • Install the cabinet within the effective range of a lightning rod .
  • Pole-mounted or wall-mounted installation is supported; ensure the pole diameter does not exceed 300mm .
  • Outdoor wiring should follow eaves or be routed through sealed steel pipes buried and grounded at a single point. Suspended wiring is prohibited . Grounding and Lightning Protection:
  • Connect the cabinet to a properly designed grounding network.
  • Install surge protective devices (SPDs) at the power supply entry point to divert lightning currents and limit voltage to safe levels .
  • Type I SPDs should be installed upstream or downstream of the electricity meter if external lightning protection exists; Type II SPDs are installed in sub-distribution boards to limit voltage below 4 kV . Electrical Connections:
  • AC and DC models are available; ensure the 4G router and network devices meet the required port and power specifications .
  • Connect network cables from servers and power management modules to the router and network devices, following the labeled connections (e.g., ROUTER POWER), .
  • Secure internal cables with cable ties to prevent contact with heating elements .

Operation and Monitoring

Power and Circuit Protection:

  • The cabinet includes air switches, automatic mechanical circuit breakers, and power lightning protection modules .
  • Monitor the status of optical ports, network ports, and power modules. The system can detect mains failure, network disconnection, and lightning strike intensity in real time . Environmental Monitoring:
  • Temperature, humidity, tilt, and water leakage are monitored, with alarms triggered via sound, light, SMS, or pop-up notifications . Remote Management:
  • Data from the cabinet can be sent to a host computer for centralized management. Local human-computer interaction modules allow storage, analysis, and display of historical data for up to one month .

Maintenance and Safety

  • Regularly inspect SPDs, fuses, and circuit breakers to ensure proper operation .
  • Replace single-use fuses after tripping and verify that backup protection is adequate for lightning currents .
  • Ensure all network and power devices are compatible with DC12V round-head power supply and follow manufacturer specifications .
  • Maintain proper insulation and avoid unauthorized modifications to internal wiring .

Summary

By following these instructions, the Lightning Protection Intelligent Distribution Cabinet will provide reliable surge protection, intelligent monitoring, and safe power distribution for smart city, transportation, and communication applications . Proper installation, grounding, and adherence to standards are essential for optimal performance and safety.
