Choosing the Right Location

Select a dry, accessible wall near power outlets and networking equipment. Avoid areas with high foot traffic, heat sources, or sharp edges that could damage the cable jacket . Ensure the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is within 3 meters of the wall socket for minimal signal loss .

Wall Mount Fiber Enclosures

A wall mount fiber enclosure protects delicate fiber cables and organizes connections. Choose an enclosure based on the number of cables and future expansion needs. Place it in a secure, easily accessible area, considering temperature and humidity . Small networks may use compact enclosures, while larger setups require more robust boxes.

Installing FTTH Wall Sockets

  5. Splice the pigtail to the incoming fiber inside the box using a fusion splicer. Insert the pigtail connector into the adapter and snap the faceplate onto the box .

  7. Test light levels using an OTDR or Visual Fault Locator (VFL) to ensure signal integrity, aiming for -27 dBm to -8 dBm for GPON networks .
