  • Distance relays can be definite distance (fixed reach) or time-distance (reach varies with fault location and time delay) .

Fault Detection

Impedance relays measure three phase-to-phase loops (L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L1) and three phase-to-ground loops (L1-N, L2-N, L3-N), covering all 11 types of short-circuit faults in a solidly grounded network . This ensures comprehensive protection for transmission lines.
