How to set up an optical fiber amplifier sensor

Setting up an optical fiber amplifier sensor involves wiring the power and signal lines, mounting the amplifier, connecting the fiber cables, and calibrating the sensor using threshold and mode settings.

Step 1: Wiring the Amplifier

  • Connect the brown wire to a 24V DC power supply and the blue wire to 0V (ground), .
  • Connect the black wire to the relay or control system for signal output .
  • Ensure the power supply is off while making connections to prevent damage .

Step 2: Mounting the Amplifier

  • Attach the amplifier to a DIN rail by fitting the rear part first, then pressing the front part securely .
  • Ensure the amplifier is stable and accessible for adjustments.

Step 3: Connecting Fiber Cables

  • Insert the fiber cables into the amplifier inlets: the transmitter (T) sends light, and the receiver (R) receives it .
  • Snap the fiber lock lever down to secure the fibers.
  • Make sure the fibers are correctly oriented; reversing them can reduce sensing performance .
  • For multi-core or connector-type amplifiers, follow manufacturer instructions for cascading or additional connections .

Step 4: Calibration and Teaching

  • Power on the amplifier; the LED display shows the current light intensity .
  • Use 1-point or 2-point teaching to set thresholds:
    • 1-point teaching: Place the object at a reference position and press the SET key to record light intensity .
    • 2-point teaching: Use two objects with different light intensities to define a threshold range .
  • Adjust the trigger light intensity using the △ and ▽ keys if needed .
  • Select output mode: LIGHT-ON or DARK-ON depending on your application .

Step 5: Mode and Timer Settings

  • Press the MODE key to select detection sensitivity:
    • FINE: Detects small differences at short distances.
    • TURBO: Extends detection distance.
    • SUPER: For harsh environments like dust or vibration .
  • Timer settings can be configured for delayed or sustained output signals .

Step 6: Verification

  • Test the sensor by moving the object through the detection range.
  • Confirm that the LED display and output signal respond correctly.
  • Lock the settings using the key lock function to prevent accidental changes . By following these steps, your optical fiber amplifier sensor will be properly installed, calibrated, and ready for integration into industrial automation systems, ensuring accurate and reliable detection .
